About this event

To celebrate Earth Day, students will participate in code.org’s “AI for Oceans” activity to discover how robots can be trained via Artificial Intelligence (AI) to rid the ocean of pollution and will learn how STEM careers can positively impact the environment.

Students will participate (individually or with a partner, on their own computers) in code.org’s “AI for Oceans” activity. Students will discover how robots can be trained via Artificial Intelligence (AI) to rid the ocean of pollution. By “training” the virtual robot, students will experience how a data set impacts machine learning.

Plus, we’ll virtually discuss the in-demand career field of AI and how STEM careers can positively impact the environment.

(Pittsburgh Technical College’s workshop is supported by an Environmental Education grant from the PA Department of Environmental Protection. Students will have the opportunity to complete an anonymous pre- and post-survey related to environmental careers.)
