Sustainable technologies are taking the world by storm! Learn about the sustainable tech of solar panels, as well as simple machines and motors, by building a solar-powered car. Then take your car outside and let it drive—by itself!—in the sun.
Teens and tweens will construct a solar-powered car out of durable wood and plastic materials, a motor, and a solar panel. Then they will take the car outside in the sun and watch it roll by itself. In the process, they will explore the sustainable technology of solar panels, the simple machine of wheel-and-axle, and how circuits with motors work. This will give them the opportunity to explore STEM and sustainability in an engaging way, take home a fun product, and start to see themselves as a person who can “do” STEM, if they do not see that already.
