JAM Enterprises — In 2018 a group of girls guided by Avonworth School District teacher Maureen Frew formed JAM Enterprises (slogan: “Girls who MAKE. Girls who CARE.”). Combining making activities with a determination to make their school a kinder place, JAM spearheaded the “Be The Kind Kid” initiative. Students made t-shirts, pins, and games bearing the #bethekindkid message. #bethekindkid soon spread beyond Avonworth, with over 13,500 t-shirts sold to date and worn in schools, offices, and organizations all over the world. The club encourages the shirts to be worn each Wednesday, or #wearitwednesday, to remind others to be the kind kid. All profits from #bethekindkid gear are donated to charitable causes and organizations (https://bethekindkid.net/).
