Over the past 20 years, Science Club Advisor, Kristin Joivell, has provided hands on learning to all elementary students at Juniata Valley Elementary School including an after school Science Club and a non-competitive Science Fair. This year marks the Fourth Annual Family Science Night that Kristin has organized at Juniata Valley Elementary School. Over the first two years, each theme at Family Science Night reflected science research that Kristin assisted scientists with in the field--from Pond Studies in Churchill, Manitoba as part of an Earthwatch Senior Fellowship to Plant Phenology Studies in Kangerlussaq, Greenland as part of the APPLES (Arctic Plant Phenology: Learning Through Engaged Science) Project. Last year, Family Science Night showcased the Science Partnership developed between Shaver's Creek Environmental Center and Juniata Valley Elementary School. And now, this year's theme focuses on a celebration of STEM!
Our Fourth Annual Family Science Night is sure to wow and amaze all who attend with a focus on celebrating STEM at Juniata Valley Elementary School! Come visit our many Interactive Science Partner Booths to see hands on displays featuring local organizations and their work with STEM. Enjoy doing a STEM Family Activity as your group attempts to solve problems as a team with activities designed by our Juniata Valley Teacher STEM Committee. Munch on a snack that you can use your STEM skills to create with supplies donated by our Juniata Valley Parent and Teacher Organization. It is sure to be an unforgettable evening of fun for all ages!
