KID Museum is an experiential museum and community makerspace that equips kids and youth with the skills to invent the future. Our weekday field trips, after-school and weekend programming for families, seasonal full-day and weeklong camps and professional development programs focus on STEM, innovation, and cultural exploration through maker-based experiences. Recognized by the Catalogue for Philanthropy as “one of the region’s best nonprofits” and nationally as a leader in maker education, we have served 286,000 kids, educators, and community members since opening our doors in 2015.
Mark your calendars now for KID Museum’s 2020 Invent the Future Challenge Summit, which will take place at Paint Branch High School, in Burtonsville, MD! All are welcome to attend this unique event showcasing the inspiring work of nearly 1,000 middle schoolers across the region. Students will present their prototyped solutions to the challenge question, “What will you make to protect life on this planet?” and compete for recognition in the categories of idea, process and presentation.
The Invent the Future Challenge Summit is the culminating event and celebration of KID Museum’s signature Invent the Future Challenge program. Teams from across the region present their prototypes after working through the Invention Studio program at KID Museum or independently in and outside of school. These prototypes are judged by local business leaders and professionals.
