About this event

This is an advanced project where Makers will create an ambient light for their happy space at home while learning paper folding and cardboard circuitry! Our Take & Make Paper Lantern project is a STEM project that explores paper folding and cardboard circuits using simple materials like paper, cardboard, hot glue, LEDs and bamboo skewers.

This is an advanced project where Makers will create an ambient light for their happy space at home while learning paper folding and cardboard circuitry!  Makers will create a basic cardboard circuit using LEDs, copper foil tape, a binder clip and coin cell battery. They will then be able to use basic origami techniques to create a geometric paper diffuser.  A small amount of fabrication skills will come into play while building the interior structure with bamboo skewers and dabbles of hot glue. This paper lantern project contains STEM, fabrication and paper folding.  Staff from the Johnson County Library Black & Veatch Makerspace will provide a kit with supplies along with paper instructions with visuals. An instructional video will guide you through your creative journey if you get lost along the way.
