About this event

How does animation work? This session provides hands-on learning about “key framing,” “frame rates” and how the “persistence of vision” makes still images appear to move. Participants will construct a thaumatrope and a flip book to observe this principle in action.

How does animation work?  This session provides hands-on learning about “key framing,” “frame rates” and how the “persistence of vision” makes still images appear to move to the viewer.  In this session the student will construct a simple thaumatrope and a flipbook that simulates animation.  The participant will also view examples of animation at different frame rates.

Participants will receive a kit of materials needed for the hands-on activities for this workshop. Registration must be complete by Monday, May 3, to allow for time to mail workshop kits to participants.
