About this event

Mifflin County School District houses 8 public schools k-12, The Academy, and different online options Mifflin County Online and Alpha.

This community day celebrates and highlights our natural heritage while focusing on the role of our watersheds in providing healthy living environments and recreational activities to our community. This event will include collaboration between Mifflin County High School STEM students, MC Academy Students, MCSD teachers, Mifflin County environmental & conservation specialists, and 5th grade students at Lewistown Intermediate School, Indian Valley Elementary Center and Sacred Heart School.

EcoDay is designed to be an interactive student-centered learning experience for all participants. At this event, 5th grade students will rotate through a series of learning stations – facilitated by high school students – in this exciting STEM cooperative. During the course of the day, students will also have the opportunity to help release Brook Trout raised by students in conjunction with the Penns Creek Chapter of Trout Unlimited. We will also be celebrating Arbor Day by providing each 5th grade student with a tree seedling to take home and plant in their community.
