In this simulated medical emergency, “Billie” is a senior at Newport High School who was brought to the ER after suffering from a diabetic crisis at school. Billie passed out during class this morning and her teacher and classmates had trouble waking her up, so they called 911 to take her to the hospital. Billie has history of type I Diabetes, and was diagnosed with the disease at the age 12.

Billie typically manages her diabetes well, regularly monitoring her glucose levels, taking insulin, eating smart, and visiting with her kidney doctor at Children’s Hospital twice a year.

Her teacher and classmates are aware of Billie’s disease, and were very concerned when Billie fell to the ground in class and could not be woken up.
