About this event

The Queen's Gambit Chess Institute is a Pittsburgh based non-profit organization dedicated to teaching chess to the community, ensuring every child has the necessary tools and opportunities to learn the game of chess through a 21st-century approach to education. We use strategy and critical thinking to impact Pittsburgh through various educational, social, political, and economic initiatives and regional partnerships.

“The most powerful piece is the queen.”
Pittsburgh’s Women in Chess event celebrates the city’s initiatives to support young women and girls in the game of chess. The event will include an all-female chess tournament and a special presentation by one of the country’s leading female chess grandmasters. We ask people to use the following on social media as much as possible before and after the event: #pghsupportswic. Women In Chess is an initiative of the Queen’s Gambit Chess Institute. We envision a world where chess is about equity, innovation, and strategy.
