About this event

Sensory Friends is a learning delay and kids on the spectrum story time and play time.

Sensory Friends is a learning delay and kids on the spectrum story time and play time. It is intentionally kept small to limit overstimulation. We can use natural sunlight instead of overhead lights. The hope is to provide comfortable spaces where the kids can try grounding techniques to listen to a story and hopefully engage with the program.  We will have a visual calendar of the program to start. It will be followed by an interactive felt board calendar where each child can add a piece to the picture.  The stories will be told using story communication boards in conjunction with some popular children’s books. We will also use scarves, beanbags, drums, etc. At the end, there will be a variety of activities available for free play. The goal is to adapt the program to the children’s needs using caregiver and therapist feedback. During play time parents and children can engage with each other and build social relationships.
