About this event

The Manheim Conservancy is a nonprofit dedicated to developing our main garden and satellite plots into fertile, productive neighborhood friendly sites that model how urban land can be used to improve city life

The Manheim Community Garden comprises the East side of the block between 42nd and 43rd Forest Ave. Check out our solar-powered water harvesting/irrigation system integrated into our food forest.

Learn how we enhance soil fertility not just through composting, but in our deep beds, hugelkultur bed, woodchip garden and chicken tractor.

Meet the chickens and ducks.

Help plant pole beans around the lean-to installed by the KC Art Institute.

Help prepare and plant a traditional Native American 3 Sisters interplanting of corn, beans and squash.

Harvest arugala, spinach, beets, carrots, lettuce, endive, kale and make a salad.

Meet neighbors and farm workers and consider how our organic permaculture oriented farm situated in a residential neighborhood offers an intriguing model for healthier, more sustainable city life.
