The MUEE STEAM Center has two classroom locations- Marshall University and Explorer Academy. Our philosophy is influenced by the Reggio Emilia Method. This co-constructivist theory promotes an exchange between teacher and child in which both explore, experiment, and solve problems and questions relevant to daily life. The program exists to promote a child-initiated, teacher supported curriculum in which children’s curiosities about the environment are supported, encouraged and explored.
At the Marshall University Early Education STEAM Center, we include families by hosting family nights at our center. For this event, families are invited to participate in a STEAM night with their children. For STEAM family night, we will offer science experiments where children and families work together to make predictions and test theories, utilize technology in a meaningful way, take on the role of engineers by making a plan and building block structures, engage in creative arts, and solve problems through an hands-on approach. We invite you to join us for an evening full of fun!
