About this event

Explore STEM concepts and principles through hands-on demonstrations with 1920’s automobiles at Shawnee Town 1929. Guided by an expert interpreter, students of all ages will learn the ins and outs of how cars function.

An understanding of our past enriches our lives today. Shawnee Town 1929 invites visitors to experience a typical day in and around the farm community of Shawnee, Kansas, in the 1920s through authentic and engaging exhibits, programs, events, and historical collections.

Shawnee Town 1929 has two buildings dedicated to all things automobile in the 1920’s: Murphy’s Service Station and the O.W. Fisher Chevrolet Dealership. Students can get up close to our automobiles and observe how they function with the help of an expert interpreter. Interested in seeing how an engine works? Or learning about the history of gasoline? Then this program is for you! Check out the museum’s Facebook page for additional details.
