Connellsville Area Career & Technical Center (CACTC) is the technical educational facility within the Connellsville Area School District located in Fayette County, Pennsylvania. We offer 13 professional programs of study to high school students that align to many career and educational goals. Students have the opportunity to earn college credits through their program of study while still in high school through CACTC’s participation in the Statewide Articulation Program. Career-minded students can take advantage of important career training and employment opportunities offered through the school, as well as their program's offered professional industry certifications. The mission of CACTC is to provide quality career-technical education programs and services that prepare youth for success in the workplace, post-secondary education, and the community, now and in the future. Approximately 500 secondary students are served annually in 13 various technology programs. The Connellsville Area School District School Board of Directors is the governing body of CACTC.
The Connellsville Area Career & Technical Center’s SkillsUSA Chapter is hosting a “Touch-A-Truck and Classic Car and Bike Show” event on May 2, 2020 from 12:00-3:00 p.m. It is a FREE community event where families will have the opportunity to see, touch, explore, interact and learn about trucks and explore the multiple programs of study that the Career and Technical Center has to offer.
This is a unique opportunity for kids of all ages to get behind the wheel, honk horns, and meet the men and women who drive each truck. While admission to the event is free, guests are asked to bring canned vegetables, non-perishable breakfast foods, peanut butter, jelly and any non-perishable foods. All of these proceeds will go towards the Connellsville Area Community Ministries Food Pantry.
Students from a multitude of shops are involved in the planning and execution of the event. Culinary arts students make and sell food during the event, heavy equipment students operate heavy equipment and simulators for the public, cosmetology students paint children’s faces, and carpentry students auction off the playhouses they constructed over the course of the school year.
Children attending the event will have the opportunity to create their own birdhouse that they can take home with them. Connellsville Area Career & Technical Center students and staff will be on hand to assist with the birdhouse project.
