Discover yourself in local history at the Mt. Horeb Driftless Historium museum!
“Driftless” is a term used by geologists to describe the distinctive, hilly terrain of Mount Horeb due to the area being bypassed by the last historic glacier. The Driftless geography is characterized by its steep, rugged landscape and by the largest concentration of cold water streams in the world.
Today, this “Driftless” terrain provides the backdrop and historical context for this engaging history museum!
The Driftless Historium is an award-winning Interpretive Center telling the story of Southwestern Dane County from pre-history to modern day. Over 3,000 square feet of exhibits, artifacts and community space is dedicated to sharing the lives of our rich cultural heritage.
