Celebrate Earth Day's 50th Anniversary by making your own recycled paper! Nearly 20% of the material going into our landfills is paper, making it the largest component of the waste stream. All but 2% of paper is either recyclable or compostable. This program describes the production of paper from its virgin state and recycled state, and allows students to participate in making recycled paper. Presented by the Hamilton County Recycling and Solid Waste District, recommended for Grades 1 - 8.

At this event, K-4 participants will have activities to choose from to enjoy in our outdoor spaces (indoor, too, if necessary). Using a variety of repurposed materials and their own creativity, students can create containers to plant seeds and starters in. Container gardens can be taken home and other plantings can be left to add to Connoquenessing's garden spaces. Taking science outside, children will be able to investigate soil through testing and also explore vegetables and fruit through different tests.

A mousetrap car is a vehicle that uses a mousetrap for motor power. STEM teachers often use experiments with mousetrap cars to help students develop spatial and problem-solving skills.
