About this Event

In 1832, when the Indian agency house in Portage, WI was constructed, people from many different cultural and ethnic backgrounds called this place home: Ho-Chunks, Menominees, Métis, Blacks, and Euro-American settlers from various Old World backgrounds. The everyday rhythms of life for these people were very different than they are today. Homes were different. Routines were different. Methods of completing tasks were different. Resources and technology were different. There were also cultural differences in the ways families and communities lived their daily lives.

Explore the daily rhythms and traditions of home life at our “Hearth & Home” backpack workshop on June 7 (rain date June 8) from 1-3 pm which offers exciting hands-on activity stations for students age 5-10. Pre-registration is required. Visit https://www.agencyhouse.org/backpack for more details and to register.

…And you can get started learning ahead of time! Access a free family learning and activity guide free any time at https://www.agencyhouse.org/hearthhome-curriculum
