Participants will be planting the library's flower garden.
Title: Homeschool Hangout: STEAM Garden
Date/Time: May 21st, 2025, 11-12:30 pm

Description: Welcoming the transition between Spring and Summer, May is the month to get the
seeds and starts in the ground! We will get outside and take care of the small garden space
that leads to the back door of the library. We will learn about plant biology and get some new
plants in the garden space, namely some vegetables and herbs, alongside the already well
established foliage that is there. Ecology and biology will be explored through our hands-on
activities – if we see a worm, we will talk about what the worm does for this soil! We will identify
plants through books and apps, and log them as part of the Citizen Science team. We will also
learn about garden animals such as birds and insects through observation, and talk about how
each part of the environment supports the others.
