About this Event

BLaST IU 17 educators are invited to a Professional Learning Event all about the Wolbachia Project!

Teachers in the BLaST IU 17 region are invited to sign up to engage students in real-world science! Partnering with PSU, BLaST IU 17 is offering an interactive, hands-on workshop designed for biology and chemistry educators to bring real-world biotechnology research into their classrooms! Grade 7-12 biology and chemistry educators are encouraged to bring a student to experience the project together.

The Wolbachia Project brings nature and scientific research into middle, high school, and college biology classes. Through inquiry-based learning, students and educators will explore DNA extraction, PCR, and gel electrophoresis, contributing valuable data to real-world research on Wolbachia pipentis, a bacterial endosymbiont.
