The Magical World of Elk County

About this Event

Families in Elk County are invited to explore and complete quests at their own pace within their communities, starting their journey at the local public library.

Enter the Magical World of Elk County by visiting various local sites to embark on exciting quests in this Harry Potter-themed Remake Learning event! These quests are hosted through a collaboration of organizations across Elk County, including but not limited to:

 

Johnsonburg Community Center, Johnsonburg Public Library, Twin Lakes Recreation Area, Ridgway Public Library, Ridgway YMCA, Boys and Girls Club of St. Marys, St. Marys Public Library, Rails to Trails-West Creek, Bennett’s Valley Community Center, Keystone Elk Country Alliance (KECA), and various participating local businesses.

 

Families in Elk County are invited to explore and complete quests at their own pace within their communities. Starting their journey at the local public library, families can pick up a “map” that details participating organizations and businesses, along with their activities, addresses, and hours of operation. The library is also the final stop, where families can return the completed quests tear-off portion of their map to enter into a raffle.

 

Quests include:

 

*A Quidditch Ball Launcher: Explore kinetic and potential energy, measurement, and engineering concepts.

*Potion-Making: Create magical mixtures, or is it a solution?

*Magical Creature Walk: An outdoor activity to learn about local animals in the PA Wilds.

*The Owlery: Test creativity in the Owl Build Challenge.

*Bonus Quests: At participating businesses, where families can enjoy a wizard-themed sweet treat!
