About this Event

Join us at Natureworks Park for a free event open to all ages; we will read a story about collaboration and generosity, cook up some compost stew, and learn about the stages of compost as well as how to start a compost bin at home!

This program will introduce participants of all ages to composting basics, promoting a thoughtful approach to lessening food waste and reusing materials for gardening and sharing with others. We will read “Thank You Omu” by Oge Mora and “Compost Stew” by Mary McKenna Siddals, play a compostable materials sorting game in teams/family groups, and then create a compost recipe card on a walk around the Natureworks Park. Additionally, samples of compost at various stages will be shown to participants, and information about starting at home composting will be distributed.
