Karyn Bashore is an elementary teacher librarian and the Library Department Chair for the Central Dauphin School District. She champions the powerful connection between literacy and STEAM, intentionally designing learning experiences where books spark inquiry and hands-on exploration deepens understanding. Karyn advocates for equitable access to high-quality resources and has secured nearly $300,000 in STEM materials and more than $35,000 in new books through grant writing and community partnerships. A graduate of the district she now serves, she has dedicated more than 25 years to education, with a decade at home raising her children in between.
Karyn leads districtwide professional learning for librarians, facilitates STEAM clubs, and mentors student library ambassadors who help cultivate a vibrant reading culture. Through her involvement with Remake Learning Days of Central PA, she designs hands-on, inclusive experiences that empower all learners to explore, create, and see themselves as capable changemakers.
