About this Event

Free Wheeling Day is a hands-on career exploration event for fourth graders that provides a learning experience using vehicles as a backdrop. Students learn about careers from individuals who work in those professions.

The JRV Chamber of Commerce provides an opportunity for local businesses to represent a variety of professions to local fourth grade students.

The event is set up with stations inside and outside a warehouse building. The students visit each station, learning from a local professional about their career. The professionals allow the students to get in or check out their vehicle and give them a quick overview about their career, including what they like about it, what skills are involved and the type of training that might be necessary.

Careers that are represented typically include safety, law enforcement, technology, agriculture, heavy equipment, forestry, fisheries, financial and others. This event is offered in cooperation with local businesses, school districts and the Chamber of Commerce.

All fourth grade students in the Mifflin County School District, as well as students from local private schools, are invited to participate.
