About this Event

5th grade students will be your tour guide, introducing you to our classroom hydroponics and aquaponics units and describing what they've learned! If you're lucky, you'll even get to taste our results!

As a special highlight of McConnellsburg Elementary School’s annual Science, Art and Literacy Night, we will invite parents to explore our 5th grade science classroom, where their student will be the tour guide!

Students will introduce their guests to the new hydroponics units, describing not only HOW they work, but also WHY it may be an important technology for farming in the future.

Students can also explain the various automated monitoring systems that can be customized and coded by students. Additionally, students will demonstrate the nutrient cycle of the classroom aquaponics system and share with visitors the many challenges of maintaining systems like these. They will describe our troubleshooting attempts throughout the school year, and the results of our efforts.

All in all, this is an opportunity for our students to share what they have learned, including their failures and frustrations, and their ideas for future investigations.

This event is designated for the parents, families, and guests of McConnellsburg Elementary School students.
