Operation: Patient Discharge – From Ward to Home is an exciting, hands-on escape room-style experience designed to engage participants in the real-world journey of safely discharging a patient from hospital. Set within a realistic hospital environment, this interactive activity challenges teams to complete a series of health-themed puzzles, each representing a different NHS staff role, to help prepare a patient (mannequin) for discharge—all within 60 minutes.

Upon arrival, participants are welcomed by a friendly NHS nurse who introduces the mission: a patient is ready to go home, but final checks must be completed, and the discharge paperwork remains locked. To unlock the discharge form and complete the task, teams must work together to solve six puzzle stations—each representing an NHS professional and the unique part they play in patient care.

This experience promotes learning about NHS careers, builds awareness of the different professionals involved in patient discharge, and highlights the importance of communication and collaboration in healthcare.
