About this Event

Join ornithologists on the west side of ACNC and watch how they capture migrating and resident birds, fit them with identification bands, measure, weigh, and then release them.

Join ornithologists on the west side of Audubon Community Nature Center on Saturday mornings April 26 through May 17, weather permitting. Watch how they capture migrating and resident birds, fit them with identification bands, measure, weigh, and then release them.

Bird banding is an established technique used to discover details about the behaviors of birds. You can drop in any time between 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. to learn from the ornithologists exactly how it is done and why. If weather is too harsh for the safety of the birds, the nets are not opened and an alternate date is chosen.
