About this Event

Students in the Youth Leadership Program will host a carnival-style learning experience where younger students rotate through interactive stations focused on athletics and the arts. Designed and led entirely by middle school leaders, this hands-on event allows participants to build new skills while giving leadership students the opportunity to apply what they have learned throughout the year — strengthening confidence, communication, teamwork, and real-world leadership abilities.

As a culminating experience of the Youth Leadership Program, participating students will design and lead a two-hour, carnival-style learning event at the Warren County YMCA on May 16, 2026 (1:00–3:00 PM).

Leadership students will divide into Arts and Athletics teams to create interactive stations for younger participants. The Athletics group will focus on body mechanics, movement fundamentals, and nutrition awareness, helping students understand how healthy habits support performance and well-being. The Arts team will guide hands-on experiences in theater and visual creativity, exploring communication skills, backdrop design, and imaginative prop use to bring ideas to life.

This peer-led experience allows middle school leaders to apply the skills they have developed throughout the year — including teamwork, organization, communication, and mentorship — while inspiring younger students through active, creative learning.

Adult volunteers from Warren Forest Higher Education Council (Hi-Ed), the Warren County YMCA, and Create Community — all with required clearances — will supervise and support the event to ensure a safe and engaging environment.

Students are currently in the process of designing and refining the event structure, strengthening their planning and leadership skills through authentic responsibility and collaboration.
