About this Event

Match your passion with opportunities at our Library!

Match your passion with opportunities at our library!

This program is for teens 11 – 19 years old who want to volunteer or earn service hours. Participants will help create visuals for library photo ops, brainstorm ideas for teen programs, create cards, door hangers, and other activities to share with local senior care facilities and other nonprofits in the community. This is a time to give back for a great cause – AND receive volunteering credit simultaneously.

The Teen Advisory Group in 2024 : members have tripled! Teens started a Tween/teen Scavenger Hunt, made interactive displays in the Youth Area, planned and facilitated multiple programs like Cookie Decorating and My Healthy Plate, and advised Library Staff to begin a Teen Laid-Back Book Club (meets once a month).

This program supports the PA Forward state initiative by providing social and civic literacy opportunities for learning and highlighting the transformative nature of public libraries within a community. Libraries contribute to education, employment, entrepreneurship, engagement, and empowerment but are often overlooked as catalysts for powerful individual and community change.
