About this Event
Join us for a fun and creative drop-in creative making and art session where young children of all ages and parents can explore materials and making focused on discovery, collaboration, and creativity!
Join us at the Center for Creative Exploration at Pennsylvania College of Art & Design for a fun and creative drop-in creative making and art session where young children of all ages and parents can explore a variety of art materials and ideas in an open, process-focused environment with partners from Tot Spot Lancaster and Hillside Place Studio. This event encourages free expression, allowing everyone to create and experiment at their own pace.
At 3:30 pm join Christina and Cristin from Tot Spot Lancaster for a story time and process art activity inspired by transportation and artist Herve Tullet. Cristin will be reading “Let’s Play” by artist and educator Herve Tullet. Christina will guide toddlers and their caregivers to work together and create a big traffic jam by “driving” their materials around the paper to make collaborative artwork! Children of all ages and abilities are encouraged to attend and sensory friendly materials will be provided.
Starting at 4:30 pm, join Stephanie from Hillside Place Studio where artists of all ages will be given the opportunity to interpret the book “Let’s Play” through experimentation with watercolor and other art materials in a low-key, calm space for friends that need quieter time. Movement and texture will be a focus as well as the idea of using atmosphere to play a part in the making process. An emphasis on cultivating emotional responses through playful art making will allow for freedom of expression and the exploration of the therapeutic benefits of creative processes.
And from 3:30 – 6 pm staff of the Center for Creative Exploration will be hosting an open making space with tons of supplies to experiment with! Prompts and inspiration will be available for those who need them, but the focus is on discovery, collaboration, and creativity through hands-on exploration!
This event is free and open to the public. Please register so we know how much fun to have on hand! RSVP Link: https://forms.gle/Bp4THfcq3hTHFRb27
