This day-long block party is designed to bring the Lancaster community together through joyful music, art, family activities, food, and free access to the museum; all while shining a light on the powerful history at the heart of the Stevens & Smith Center. Through engaging vendors and entertainment that connect the legacies of Thaddeus Stevens and Lydia Hamilton Smith to today, we’re reminded that each of us has the power to create positive change in our community and country.
There will be a performance stage and all kinds of vendors, food trucks, and community groups set up on Vine Street in front of the Center from 12-6PM. Students can engage with a real-life historian at the “Ask a Historian Booth,” learn about the important ways African-Americans have influenced Lancaster, and be able take home activities from our various vendors.
