Young Gardener’s Day- An Adaptive Gardening Experience

Experience vocational training and agriculture education in an accessible gardening space.

Variety-the Children’s Charity of the Delaware Valley is excited to host an agriculture education and vocational training event in collaboration with the PA Department of Agriculture! On May 21st, at Variety’s beautiful 77-acre campus at 2950 Potshop Road, Worcester PA 19490, we invite you to bring your students to take part in an immersive agricultural day field trip. Students will spend the morning learning about and participating in gardening tasks such as seeding, direct seeding, potting-up seedlings, transplanting, watering, and harvesting. In the afternoon, students will collaborate on team activities and design crafts. These activity stations are organized by Variety and a number of community partners with educational segments such as book reading, collaborative games, demonstrations, and exhibits all focusing on agriculture and the environment. Groups should plan to arrive for a brief orientation in the morning. During the afternoon activities, groups can leave at times that accommodate their school dismissal schedule.

Variety’s garden environments are built to be highly accessible with paved pathways, raised beds, accessible trellises, wheelchair accessible garden beds and more. Accommodations are available upon request at the registration link below. Variety is proud to be a host for such an impactful event as we celebrate our 90th year of providing services to individuals with disabilities.

Registration is required and must be completed by May 9th.

All participants should plan to bring a packed lunch. Water bottle refilling stations will be available.
