About this Event

This hands-on outdoor experience invites families to slow down, enjoy nature, and learn the fundamentals of fishing in an urban river setting.

Join us to spend family time fishing along the Allegheny River at our dock located just behind the David L. Lawrence Convention Center.

Attendees will be guided through the basics of casting, how to bait a hook, and simple fishing techniques, making this event perfect for beginners and curious learners of all ages. Knowledgeable instructors will be on hand throughout the session to offer tips, answer questions, and support participants as they try fishing for themselves. All rods, gear, and live or artificial bait will be provided, so no prior experience or equipment is needed—just come ready to learn and have fun!

Note for Anglers Ages 16 & Up: Normally, a Pennsylvania fishing license is required for individuals ages 16 and older. However, for this special event, certified fishing instructors will be present to provide a licensing exception, allowing everyone to participate without needing to obtain a license in advance.
