The Idealized Science Institute Regional Science Conference celebrates authentic scientific inquiry by middle and high school students from Beaver, Allegheny, and neighboring counties. Born out of a decade-long conference at Freedom High School that has transformed hundreds of young scientists, this inaugural regional event marks an exciting new chapter.

Students will present original research, compete for STEM scholarships, experience a university campus, and connect with faculty and STEM alumni who can show them a concrete path from classroom curiosity to meaningful career. Teachers will participate in networking and professional development sessions, gaining research-backed practices and lasting connections with fellow educators, university partners, and industry professionals.

Authentic research experiences transform students — when young people take ownership of real scientific questions, they begin to see themselves as capable thinkers, problem-solvers, and scientists. This conference is more than a single event. It is the beginning of a long-term investment in Western Pennsylvania’s STEM future, with the ambition to become an annual tradition and a model for the state and country.
