About this Event
Union Project is a community ceramics studio presenting classes and events in a fun and welcoming environment. We offer more than 100 clay programs and events throughout the year to provide experiences and education to people of all ages, backgrounds, and skill levels. Join us in our lower-level studio for a creative and thought-provoking hands-on activity exploring the art of clay!
Visitors can participate in a clay diorama construction. In order to complete a portion of the diorama, visitors will need to collaborate with a person they do not know. Ideally, two or more people chat about the surrounding area and what their utopic neighborhood would look like. Collaboration with new people fosters an environment that sparks creativity, curiosity and joy. Being able to connect in a time of disconnect helps bring the Pittsburgh community together exposing the innerweb of connectedness that is needed.
Additionally, visitors can learn about the history and science behind clay.
No previous clay experience is necessary. Teaching artists will guide you through different techniques, including coil building, pinching pots, and scoring to attach to aid you in the creation of your original sculpture. Whether you add to the diorama or just come to watch, everyone is an artist at this event!
