About this Event

Join us at Reimagined Recycling's studio for an afternoon of turning single-use plastics into reusable items through craft and art making!

Reimagined Recycling is a small non-profit located on Larimer Ave in the Lincoln-Lemington-Belmar neighborhood of Pittsburgh. We envision a world where plastic consumption and waste is greatly reduced and that people can actively reimagine their waste. Reimagined Recycling rethinks plastic recycling in Pittsburgh by creating a transparent system of sorting, shredding, and re-crafting #5 plastics on a local level. Our work includes direct material repurposing, processing recycled #5 plastic material into new products, and promoting educational programs to the community. We collect single-use plastics the city regularly does not and we turn them into jewelry, home goods, and art pieces to last lifetimes.

During our Open House we will invite the community into our studio space to experience creating with this precious material and learn about single-use plastic reduction. Participants will have the opportunity to shred plastics, injection mold plastic into coasters and beads, and assemble their own friendship bracelets. We will also learn about single-use plastics, options to use less in our everyday lives, and how to make more than waste with the plastic we do need to use daily.
