The BHMS Science Olympiad

About this Event

The BHMS Science Olympiad is an exciting, hands-on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) event designed to engage scholars in problem-solving, critical thinking, and teamwork. This competition will take place during the school day, allowing all students to participate in a dynamic and educational experience that strengthens their understanding of scientific concepts through collaboration and inquiry-based learning.

Scholars will be grouped into teams based on the Propel Habits, which emphasize essential character traits such as leadership, perseverance, responsibility, and collaboration. These habits will guide students as they tackle a variety of engaging challenges that require creative thinking, scientific reasoning, and teamwork. Each team will work together to complete tasks, conduct experiments, and solve real-world problems, reinforcing both academic knowledge and interpersonal skills.

The event will consist of multiple competition stations, each focusing on different areas of STEAM. Scholars may engage in activities such as engineering design challenges, physics-based problem-solving, life science, chemistry experiments, or coding tasks. The goal is to make science both fun and applicable, helping students see its relevance beyond the classroom while reinforcing the importance of curiosity and perseverance.

To extend learning beyond the school day, the BHMS Science Olympiad will also feature an evening component, inviting families to take part in their scholars’ educational journey. This family-inclusive portion will allow parents, guardians, and siblings to engage in hands-on science activities, witness student presentations, and celebrate the hard work and accomplishments of all participants. By including families, we aim to strengthen the home-school connection, emphasize the importance of STEAM education, and inspire continued learning beyond the classroom.

Through this event, students will not only develop a deeper appreciation for science but also enhance their teamwork, problem-solving, and communication skills—qualities essential for success in both academic and professional settings. The Science Olympiad will serve as a platform to empower students, recognize their achievements, and foster a love for exploration and discovery.
