About this Event

Join us at Frick Environmental Center to celebrate World Migratory Bird Day! We'll have multiple bird hikes (including accessible birding), family-friendly activities, story time, garden planting, and more. Come learn about how migratory birds are part of our Pittsburgh community!

Join us at Frick Environmental Center to celebrate World Migratory Bird Day! May of the bird species that sing to us all summer have winter homes farther south in Central or South America. Some birds pass through our region on their way farther north, and some settle here in Pittsburgh for the summer. World Migratory Bird Day celebrates the diversity of birds that live among us in our community.

On Saturday, May 10, we’ll host activities at the Frick Environmental Center to engage your larger-than-bird brain and celebrate World Migratory Bird Day in partnership with Allegheny Bird Conservation Alliance, Bird Lab, The National Aviary, and City of Pittsburgh Park Ranger, and the International Dark Skies Association (Pittsburgh Chapter). We’ll have multiple bird hikes (including accessible birding), family-friendly activities, story time, garden planting, and more. Come learn about how migratory birds are part of our Pittsburgh community!

This year’s theme for the global World Migratory Bird Day event is “Shared Spaces: Creating Bird-Friendly Cities and Communities.” We’ll explore various ways participants can support bird life both here at Frick Environmental Center and in their own neighborhoods.
