About this Event
Marian Anderson families and community members are invited to hear from middle school students about their civic inquiries into artificial intelligence (AI).
In their digital literacy classes at Marian Anderson Neighborhood Academy, students in grades 6-8 have been exploring some of the costs and benefits of artificial intelligence (AI). From digging into ethical and legal concerns to exploring practical and philosophical questions, students are thinking about AI and its effects on our environment, human work, human thinking, human creativity, and civic life.
We’re inviting families and community members to join us for a symposium in which students share what they’ve learned through civic argumentation, animation, lightning talks.
The event is being organized as a program through the Wildcat Workshop @ Marian Anderson, Marian Anderson’s junior chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), and Marian Anderson Neighborhood Academy Supporters (MANAS).
Additionally, the symposium is offered in partnership with students and professors from the Philadelphia Writing Project at the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education and Teacher Education Programs at Drexel University.
