About this Event
As part of GPA’s Educating Global Kids with Roots initiative, we are partnering with Woodmere Art Museum to host a 2 month long art project to select schools within the School District of Philadelphia. This collaborative program provides students with meaningful arts education and culminates in a public exhibition of their work at the Helen Millard Children’s Gallery at Woodmere.
As a key initiative of GPA’s Educating Global Kids with Roots program, we are proud to partner with Woodmere Art Museum to deliver a comprehensive, 2-month-long arts education program to select underfunded schools within the School District of Philadelphia.
The overarching goal of this collaboration is to expand access to high-quality arts education for elementary and middle school students who may otherwise have limited resources. GPA and Woodmere jointly support the program by providing professional teaching artists, curriculum development, classroom instruction, and all necessary art supplies.
Throughout the course of the program, students engage in hands-on artistic exploration while learning about both world heritage and local heritage. Lessons are designed to connect global cultural themes with Philadelphia’s unique historic identity, encouraging students to see themselves as part of a broader international story while deepening their understanding of their own community.
The program culminates in a public exhibition of student artwork at the Helen Millard Children’s Gallery at Woodmere Art Museum, offering students the opportunity to showcase their creativity in a professional museum setting and celebrate their achievements with family, educators, and community members.
