Learning across PA
PA Department of Education Partnerships
Thanks to support from the PA Department of Education, RLD is bringing nearly a thousand events to families across PA.
Remake Learning Days across PA
RLD is an innovative festival held each spring providing hands-on learning experiences for families and youth, fostering a sense of preparedness and introducing learning resources within communities. Through seven festivals hosted across the Commonwealth, Remake Learning Days (RLD) collaborates on several statewide initiatives including the Career Ready PA Backpack Challenge, State Agency events through Agriculture, Conservation and Natural Resources (State Parks), and more. Other statewide initiatives include Ambassadors and the STEM design challenge discoverED with 1st and 2nd grade students. As part of the PAsmart initiative, RLD helps provide touchpoint and deeper experiences centered on employability skills, STEM hands-on learning, and career readiness, as well as provide equitable access to free and live events across the Commonwealth. Read more about each initiative below.
Career Ready PA
Career Ready PA is excited to uplift Remake Learning Days events and provide a seamless opportunity for students to obtain artifacts for their career portfolio by participating in festival events. After K-12 students attend a RLD event, they simply need to complete the artifact survey on the Career Ready PA Backpack Challenge page. This survey will be shared with your school so you can earn your badge and get career portfolio credit for the Backpack Challenge! Learn more below.
Career Ready PA Backpack Challenge
Schools can sign up for the Career Ready PA Backpack Challenge where students can earn artifacts toward their career readiness portfolio through RLD events. School administrators should click here to learn how to sign up their school.
Mega Challenge Events
Each Career Ready PA region will host a “Mega Challenge Event” as part of Remake Learning Days. These events show a significant partnership between schools and a non-profit that furthers career readiness goals. Click here to learn more about Mega Challenge Events.
Student Artifact Survey
Once K-12 students attend a RLD event between May 1-23, 2025 that qualifies as part of the Career Ready PA Backpack Challenge, they can complete a short artifact survey that will help their school earn credit toward their school’s career readiness work. Click here to learn more.
Event Host Awards
Event Hosts for Remake Learning Days are invited to apply for Event Host Awards (mini-grants) in increments of $150, $250 or $500. Event hosts should submit their event to the RLD website first and then share their event link in the Event Host Awards application. Applications are reviewed on a monthly basis with the final submission deadline of February 21, 2025.
RLD Ambassadors
RLD Ambassadors are champions of the RLD festivals in their region. They share about upcoming events, attend events and post what they learned at the event. Across Pennsylvania, there will be 105 RLD Youth Ambassadors and 105 RLD Parent and Teacher Ambassadors in 2025. The Youth Ambassadors will work with our partner SLB Radio Productions, Inc., for training and implementation.
Thanks to a grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Education, Ambassadors receive a stipend of up to $250 for their time and expertise. Click here to learn more about becoming an Ambassador.
PA Department of Agriculture
The Pennsylvania Commission for Agriculture Education Excellence stands at the forefront
of nurturing a robust educational landscape that not only sustains PA’s agricultural heritage but
also propels our future generations towards prosperous career pathways. In this endeavor, we
champion initiatives like Remake Learning Days with Career Ready PA, recognizing the pivotal
role that hands-on learning plays in shaping a workforce prepared for the challenges and opportunities of tomorrow.
DiscoverED
First and second grade classrooms across the state of Pennsylvania will be invited to virtually swap schools to experience how STEAM and maker pedagogies are thriving in classrooms different from their own. Participating schools will connect virtually, and students will plan, create and iterate their own catapult using maker design skills. A live feed of this event will be streamed between classroom partners as we launch Remake Learning Days across Pennsylvania!
