About this event

In this session the student will construct a simple thaumatrope and a flipbook that simulates animation to help them learn about "key frames" in animation.

This session provides hands-on learning about “key framing,” “frame rates” and how the “persistence of vision” makes still images appear to move to the viewer.  In this session the student will construct a simple thaumatrope and a flipbook that simulates animation. The participant will also view examples of animation at different frame rates.

As part of Kansas City’s REMAKE LEARNING DAYS, digiSTORY KC and the DeBruce Foundation are making this virtual workshop available at no charge for the first 25 students who register. This workshop is available for students in grades 3 – 7.

Registered participants will receive materials needed for the hands-on activities during this workshop. REGISTRATION MUST BE COMPLETE BY MONDAY MAY 6th.  These materials are being provided to you free of charge thanks to a grant from the DeBruce Foundation.

We encourage parents to participate with their child during this workshop.  Making the thaumatrope and the flipbook will require paper cutting, hole punching and knot tying.
