Junior Achievement’s YES! (Your Economic Success) program engages middle school students with volunteer-run activities which allow them to learn about career pathways, STEM skills, team building, manufacturing and trade jobs, interviewing tips, and financial responsibility.
Junior Achievement’s YES! (Your Economic Success) is a one-day interactive, hands-on learning experience for middle school students, providing engaging activities on career pathways, STEM, manufacturing and trade jobs, interviewing tips, team building and financial responsibility. The students rotate through four activities, each designed to be approximately 30 minutes.
The YES! program was piloted at GAR Memorial Middle School in May 2023 and will be delivered free of charge to 12 school districts in Luzerne and Lackawanna counties this school year.
YES! brings volunteer role models from numerous businesses and organizations who share their education and backgrounds and introduce young people to a world of future career paths and the role personal and financial decisions will have on their adult lives.
“The Middle School Slump” is a time when peer pressure and the transition out of elementary school prompts many students, who were formerly good performers academically, to begin losing interest in school. This is a time when JA programs, like YES, are particularly effective at engaging students, helping them to connect what they are learning in school with their own future success.
We believe young people, with the right mentoring and influences, can improve the community. Junior Achievement’s goal is to help students graduate from high school with a vision of their future success and a pathway to get there.
