National Air and Space Museum Virtual Field Trips

Find unique opportunities for you and your learners to engage with the Museum’s content online! Each reservable experience is standards-aligned and provides a suite of materials surrounding the content area aimed at engaging learners through: -Content deep-dives ready for instructional use; -Hands-on experiences that include adaptations for completion at home; -Artifact immersions that connect our collection to your content; and -Virtual games and activities that extend the content for your learners. These experiences include ready-to-go resources for educators; they do not include a live interaction with Smithsonian staff.

Science of Tortillas

As many of us are familiar with tortillas, most of us cannot describe the science behind them. This lesson is designed to describe the Biology, the Chemistry, the Physics, and the Engineering that are embedded in the making of a single tortilla!

You can reserve the Flights of Fancy Story Time experience and request the platform, whether Zoom, Teams, or other (TBD). The reserved program will include a read-aloud with the museum educator, a video chat about an image or other museum resources related to the topic, and a craft activity led by the museum educator. Each session will last 30 minutes.

Register to reserve a unique experience for you and your learners to engage in the world around them and the museum’s content online! Each show lasts approximately 45 minutes and will be hosted on Zoom or Teams. If your group uses a different platform, please note your platform preference within your registration. These experiences are available for groups of 10 or more. Programs will occur at 10:00 am Eastern Monday through Friday. If you would like to inquire about an alternate program start time please contact the Tours and Reservations Office at NASMFieldTrips@si.edu.
