Juneteenth Community Poetry event and Barbecue Fun Day
We are asking community members to come and enjoy a day of poetry, food and music. The event will take place at the Kaboom playground in Hazelwood. We will ask community members from many areas of life to come and read poems that promote racial healing. We will encourage community members to add lines to a community poem entitled “Racism, We Say No”. Every neighbor will have an opportunity to contribute a line to this poem. At the end of the event we hope to have a full poem that expresses the community’s desire to have a safe environment where everyone feels respected, welcomed and loved.
