UNVEILING OF  Erie Water Works GREAT LAKES MAP – HABS Greatest Threat to Our Fresh Water

Troy Firth, Founder of Foundation For Sustainable Forests Celebrating 25 Years! 

12:00 – 6:00 p.m.

Troy will hike attendees into the FloraRoze educating sustainable forest practices & view a cut made to encourage new baby ash growth post Emerald Ash Borer.  Learn the importance of Sustainable Forest Practices that play a role in our climate future!

See the work of our local Sierra Club and opportunities to join!  The Plant it Forward Community Tree Planting Initiative Outstanding Environmental Steward will be announced. See the work of LEAF RELEAF, and Asbury Woods Year of the Tree. Also, learn about legislation efforts for a Pennsylvania ban on plastics and all the Sierra Club is accomplishing.

Make-A-Match Game Leaf Scavenger Hunt and tree leaf rubbing activity

For children & families: Make-A-Match Tree Leaf Scavenger Hunt Game! Children will find leaves for a leaf-rubbing activity &  spy a few dinosaurs by forest streams looking for clean water! Game pick up at FloraRoze Cabin.

Our Water Our Air Our Rights: 

2024 PENNY Award recipient – Mission Statement https://warights.org

The Our Water Our Air Our Rights table will bring you family-friendly solar toys, non-plastic alternatives, and information on how you can eliminate single-use plastic by using refillable containers. If we research alternatives to plastics and reduce our plastic use, we can preserve and protect our water and air without resorting to ineffective plastic recycling.

National Aviary – with Cassandra Ziegler, MS – https://www.aviary.org/about-us/ – and with Issy Lawrie  Presque Isle Audubon: 

12:15 – 3:00 p.m. The National Aviary has conducted bird research at the FloraRoze for a number of summers and Cassandra will be on hand to talk about the results of these studies and a bird walk. She will be joined by Issy Lawrie, Presque Isle Audubon. There will be a limited number for this walk for group management. Please submit your request to join this walk.

What makes a healthy watershed?  What is Environmental Justice? Families can engage with a watershed model demonstration by the PA DEP.  Learn the importance of protecting our fresh water.

Career Ready PA is excited to uplift Remake Learning Days events and provide a seamless opportunity for K-12 students to obtain artifacts for their career portfolio. Events that qualify for Career Ready PA Backpack Challenge will provide participants the opportunity to gain a 21st century learning skill or be exposed to future careers. After this event, students will need to complete the artifact survey.  This survey will be shared with your public K-12 school so you and your school can earn career portfolio credit for the Backpack Challenge!
