About this event

Students interested in seeing engineering technology in action can attend the Baja SAE Williamsport endurance event on May 19th and learn about the Penn College degree programs that helped the Wildcat team design and build their vehicle.

Penn College will host a Baja SAE competition May 16-19 at its Schneebeli Earth Science Center near Montgomery and Allenwood.  Dubbed Baja SAE Williamsport, the international event is expected to attract 80-plus teams and about 800 competitors.  The competition requires college teams to design, manufacture and build a single-seat, all-terrain vehicle.  Following two days of technical inspections and presentations, the teams compete in a series of dynamic events that challenge all aspects of their handiwork.  The competition concludes on the 19th with its toughest test:  a four-hour endurance race.  Many vehicles don’t survive but the Penn College Wildcats have has posted 13 top-10 finishes in the endurance race, including wins in 2002 at Baja SAE Tennessee Tech and Baja SAE Rochester.

Middle and Highschool students accompanied by an adult, will be able to view the exciting and grueling endurance race in person. The course incorporates obstacles, jumps, changing elevation and rough terrain.  Register at the Remake Learning booth on-site to get your free t-shirt and learn about the different Penn College Baja team members and the engineering technology programs that they are studying.  See Engineering Technology in action and learn about the different types of careers that need the skills used by our Wildcat Baja team.
